چکیده
Background: In pregnancy, the body undergoes modulation of pro-inflammation responses to ensure fetal survival, and these adjustments may decrease maternal immune defenses promote infections. Objectives: This study was conducted determine interleukin 2 (IL-2), IL-10, interferon gamma (IFN-γ) among pregnant women co-infected with HIV Plasmodium falciparum in Edo State, Nigeria. Methods: at Central Hospital, Benin City, State. A total 200 participants were enrolled, consisting 150 P. 50 non-pregnant (as controls) who neither infected nor falciparum. Venous blood specimen collected for detection, CD4 T-lymphocyte estimation, IL-2, IFN-γ assays using standard methods. Results: Among HIV-infected women, IL-2 (P = 0.0070), IL-10 0.0179) 0.1564) values lower primiparous compared multiparous women. married had significantly higher 0.0085) levels 0.0332) single while marital status did not affect level HIV. Only increased 0.0012) increasing trimester. The tested cytokine those malaria without Conclusions: infection affects malaria.

AbstractPentavalent antimonials, as the 1st choice for the treatment of cutaneous leishmaniasis (CL), have various side effects. Also, there are some reports of drug resistance. Due to its safety, cryotherapy can be a good alternative or complementary treatment in CL. The aim of this study was to explore the possible systemic immunological mechanisms of cryotherapy besides its local effects in ...
متن کاملLack of Association between Interleukin-10 Gene Promoter Polymorphisms with HIV Susceptibility and Progression to AIDS
Background & Objective: Interleukin (IL)-10 is an important anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory cytokine. Some authors believe that single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) in the promoter region of the IL-10 gene have been associated with susceptibility to HIV infection and progression to AIDS, but its role is not clearly defined yet. The present study was undertaken to evaluate the a...
متن کاملInterleukin-10 Regulates Hepcidin in Plasmodium falciparum Malaria
BACKGROUND Acute malarial anemia remains a major public health problem. Hepcidin, the major hormone controlling the availability of iron, is raised during acute and asymptomatic parasitemia. Understanding the role and mechanism of raised hepcidin and so reduced iron availability during infection is critical to establish evidence-based guidelines for management of malaria anemia. Our recent clin...
متن کاملInterferon-gamma differentially regulates interleukin-12 and interleukin-10 production in leprosy.
The ability of monocytes to influence the nature of the T cell response to microbial pathogens is mediated in part by the release of cytokines. Of particular importance is the release of IL-12 and IL-10 by cells of the monocyte/macrophage lineage upon encountering the infectious agent. IL-12 promotes cell mediated immunity (CMI) to intracellular pathogens by augmenting T-helper type 1 responses...
